Founded in 1988, the Youth Symphony of Southern Oregon (YSSO) provides high-level performance opportunities and training under the leadership of professional conductors and musicians and fosters lifelong appreciation of music and the arts. The 2017-2018 season marks the organization’s 30th year of performing masterworks for orchestra. Concert Series performances feature the ensembles of the YSSO organization — Youth Symphony and Youth Orchestra. The Youth Symphony and Youth Orchestra include accomplished string, brass, woodwind and percussion musicians who present masterful performances of standard orchestral literature and concerti, as well as arrangements for preparatory orchestra. Youth Symphony Concerto Competition winners are featured as soloists with the Youth Symphony each year. Audiences will be impressed by the interpretive, technical and performance skills of the musicians, as well as their commitment to excellence. Attend the inspiring concerts and be part of the Youth Symphony of Southern Oregon’s mission to engage hearts, hands and minds in the joy of classical music.
